I’m here to help!

If you want to go to university but don’t really know what that means, take a look through the website to find out more! And if you can’t find the answer to your question, submit it and I can post a response.

I started this resource based on my own experience as a very lost student back when I did my bachelor of arts, and also based on my experiences working with students as a university staff member, instructor, and researcher. I’ve spoken to many students who couldn’t find the answers to their questions, and I want to help. I’ve met so many students who had the brains, drive and enthusiasm to succeed at university – but didn’t always have a clear idea of what that path looked like or where it led.

The university can be difficult to navigate – let me help! Take a look at my posts to see if they’ll help you out, and if not then submit a question!

I’ve spent most of the last 20 years at university. I finished my BA in 2005, a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in counselling and human development in 2014, a Masters of Education in 2016, and I’m currently a PhD student studying higher education.

Within that, I worked full-time at a university for over 13 years and have experience working in academic advising, admissions, policy, curriculum and many other areas, and I’ve also been teaching business courses for several years.

My experiences led me to start this blog and website as a resource for new and soon-to-be university students. This site will provide you with some of the helpful questions to ask and tools to explore the possibilities so you can make informed decisions about university.

I recommend starting with this post on program selection or this post on study skills and exploring from there.

Please reach out and share your experience with this site: email@chooseyouruni.ca or submit a question (and definitely let me know about any typos). I would love to hear from you!

Good luck on your journey!
